Shaded Summer – The Mistake Cards Part 1

The other day I shared a color challenge card that used Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, and Polished Pink. Before I made that card, I created two entirely different cards with Pear Pizzazz, Pale Papaya, and Flirty Flamingo. It’s also a lovely combination, just not quite what the color challenge asked for. Whoops! While I ended up switching to the Color & Contour stamp set for the final card, I used the Shaded Summer stamp set for the original two cards. Here’s the first.

First, I created a landscape 8.5″ x 11″ card base with Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock, scored at 4.25″. Next I stamped the center floral image with Early Espresso ink on a 5″ x 3.75″ layer of the same cardstock, then added the other floral image around the edges with Pear Pizzazz, Pale Papaya, and Flirty Flamingo ink.

The center floral image was colored in with Old Olive (essentially a darker version of Pear Pizzazz), Pale Papaya, and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends Markers. Finally, I stamped the “hello you” sentiment with Early Espresso ink, punched it out with the Double Oval Punch, and added some Pear Pizzazz ink around the edge with a sponge dauber. Both the layer and sentiment are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed my project! Tomorrow I’ll share the stepped up version I created using the Summer Shadows dies, a free Sale-a-bration item!
