Shaded Summer – The Mistake Cards Part 2

Following the card I shared yesterday, here’s the stepped up version I created with the same color combination of Pear Pizzazz, Pale Papaya, and Flirty Flamingo. Like yesterday’s card, it features the Shaded Summer stamp set, and this time I used the Summer Shadows Dies, currently available as a Sale-a-bration item you can earn for free.

First, I created a landscape 8.5″ x 11″ card base with Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock, scored at 4.25″. Next, I stamped the smaller floral image color-on-color in a somewhat random pattern with Pear Pizzazz, Pale Papaya, and Flirty Flamingo ink on their matching cardstocks (4.25″ x 1.5″) and added each piece to the card base.

The center floral image was stamped in Early Espresso and then die cut. I colored it with Old Olive (essentially a darker version of Pear Pizzazz), Pale Papaya, and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends Markers. I stamped the “love you, friend” sentiment with Early Espresso ink on a piece of Very Vanilla that was 0.75″ x 2.5″, then punched each end using the Lovely Labels Pick-a-Punch.

Here’s where I made an actual mistake and decided to roll with it. When I added ink to my sponge dauber, I intended to use Pear Pizzazz, but the Early Espresso was also still open, and I started adding that to the edges of the sentiment before I realized what I had done. I thought it might be fun to go for a two-toned look, so the top and bottom have Early Espresso and the sides have Pear Pizzazz. I did add just a hint to Pear Pizzazz over the Early Espresso.

The die-cut flower image and sentiment are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and I added a few Basic Pearl Jewels colored with the dark Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends marker. I hope you enjoyed my project!
