Welcome to the May 2021 Technique Squad Blog Hop! I’m so excited to be part of this fun collaboration with fellow demonstrators. This month’s technique is faux suede, which is a deceptively easy way to add texture to your projects. For this technique, you distress a piece of cardstock with a tool like a bone folder until it starts to come apart, then you carefully peel apart the layers. The insides are soft to the touch and look like suede. I can’t wait to show you my project!
I mentioned last week how much excited I am about the In the Wild Suite, and I thought the faux suede technique would be purrfect for a wild cat.
For the technique, first I die cut a cat from the Big Cats Dies out of Cajun Craze cardstock, then worked it with my bone folder until the paper started to separate. I do advise caution when working with the legs and tail — it’s totally possible to use the bone folder on these carefully, and it’s also true that during my first attempt I ripped off a paw.
When the paper began to separate on both ends on my second attempt, I was able to carefully pull it apart to either have cats enough for two cards or be able to have the two cats facing in different directions on this one card. I love the soft feel of these cats!
The sentiment is cut out with a die from the Floral Gallery Dies. I finished the card with three diamond-shaped silver gems from the Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials colored with the dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends marker. You can find a button for the full product list below.

Love the textured tigers!!

I’m beyond impressed that you could use both sides. It’s a great technique for the cats.

I love this card. I think I would have torn off more than one paw!

Kristie,
I love how you texturized the tigers! Great combo. I am glad you used your tigers in such a unique way with the technique.
