February 2021 Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to the February 2021 Technique Blog Hop! I’m so excited to be part of this fun collaboration with fellow demonstrators. This month’s technique goes by at least a couple of different names: Mock Croc or Faux Alligator. I can’t wait to show you my projects!

I decided to try this two ways, one the more traditional way and the other with an embossing folder. For the traditional one in Seaside Spray and Smoky Slate, I applied VersaMark ink, then clear embossing powder, then tried to drag my bone folder in a somewhat random pattern to resemble reptile skin. After making the pattern and flicking off the bits of powder and VersaMark the technique creates, I finished the embossing with my heat tool.

I found this version a bit harder to manage since I needed to hold the paper to drag the bone folder around, which affected the edges. I’m also really not very good at “random.” It certainly has an interesting look!

For my other card in Highland Heather and Sahara Sand, I used the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folde. I love how this one looks when embossed.
