Last month a friend hosted an online workshop with me, and one of the activities was a Zoom meeting for those she invited, where I held a live demonstration of a relatively easy card. While trying to decide what to create, I came across a video by Jackie Bolhuis and I fell in love with the versatility of an easy fun fold. Over the next week or so I’ll be sharing additional cards I’ve created, including a couple of Paper Pumpkin alternatives.
The basic format for this card is a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of cardstock with a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Designer Series Paper, then a 8-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of cardstock folded in half and adhered to the base. Add a 4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of coordinating Designer Series Paper to the folded piece, along with an image, sentiment, and embellishments, and that’s it!
This layout can be done in a variety of ways. I’ve really been liking the folded piece being 2-1/2″ wide and placed off-center to the left, but you could make the folded piece a different width, or place it elsewhere, such as centered.
For this card, I wanted to use the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle, which includes the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and Sunflowers dies. I also knew the host really likes the new Bumblebee In Color. I decided to use the bold sheet of Magenta Madness roses with Just Jade leaves and a Bumblebee background from the Flowers for Every Season 6″ x6″ Designer Series Paper as the background for my card.
For the folded piece, I chose a calmer background from the same pack of Designer Series Paper. I colored the sunflower with Stampin’ Write Markers (Bumblebee, Just Jade, with Early Espresso over the lines). The full supply list follows.
