Stamped Cards, Stampin' Up!, Stamping

Rooted in Nature – Part One

In December, I was honored to be selected by Rachel Tessman as that month’s Showcase Stamper for her downline team. I had just recently purchased the Rooted In Nature stamp set, and made this an opportunity to create a collection of diverse cards using one featured stamp set.

The first card uses trees from Rooted in Nature and the deer from the Nature’s Beauty stamp set, which carried over from the 2019 holiday catalog. Nature’s Beauty not only has some lovely animal and outdoors imagery, but a portion of every sale goes toward supporting mental health organizations.

The key to getting the trees to look like that is to stamp this with Classic ink on the watercolor paper (links to all of the specific products used to make this card can be found below), then gently color over the trees with the medium (rather than the large) brush tip from the Aqua Painters. This “activates” the ink, and in this case, fills it in with lighter color versions of the Old Olive ink.

The deer is stamped with Saddle Brown StazOn ink, then filled in with Early Espresso ink using the same medium Aqua Painter. I added a little Balmy Blue ink with the Aqua Painter at the bases of the trees, around the deer’s feet, and a bit over the “field of snow” for highlights.

It’s a rare card where I don’t add a little ink around an edge somewhere with a sponge dauber. This is not one of those rare cards. 🙂
