Sure, there’s the packing and buying of snacks and stuff…and I really should find a pair of actually comfortable shoes that fit the “business casual” requirement…but most of getting ready for Stampin’ Up! convention is all about making cardfronts for swapping. My upline (the person who recruited me) recommended bringing at least 100; the consensus of folks over at my stamping forum was between 100 and 200. So naturally, I’m making 150 total, 50 each of three designs.
If somehow I manage to finish those by the 12th (the date my group is getting together to assemble our swaps), I may try my hand at something I’ve been hearing about, trading cards. Obviously I’ve heard of trading cards before, but I had no idea they were so popular in the stamping community. It sounds like they’re just like cardfronts, but smaller, 2.5″ x 3.5″ (cardfronts are generally 5.5″ x 4.25″).
I have some other things I need to post on my stamping forum this evening, so I’ll try to remember to post my swap prototypes here as well.
Oh, and Dawn, if you still read this at all, there’s a stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog that totally reminded me of you. Just sayin’.
Beth
I wanna know what that stamp set is! (I actually have a few random stamps, but I rarely use them. They can be fun, but I just don’t have time!)

Let’s see if this link works…happily, the Stampin’ Up! catalog is online, though there’s nothing like flipping through the real thing.

Oh, and Beth, I meant to say that eventually (August or September) I’m going to start organizing a few make-and-take events with a few of my friends, where I provide all the materials to make about 4-5 cards, so let me know if you’re interested. My upline does these, and it’s a great excuse to get together and you get a few handmade cards out of the deal too!
dawnmarie
that’s a very me set.

My mother at one point bought all kinds of stamps, but as per usual never did anything with them. It’s nice to see someone actually continue with their hobby.

I want to see your trading cards! And I’d like to check out your card fronts too!
Kristie
I didn’t end up doing trading cards…heck, I only finished 100 of my planned 150 cardfronts, but that’s okay, because now I’m already partway done with working on swaps for the regional seminar in September.
I’m going to try to get pictures done tomorrow. The sunroom is the only place in the house with decent light, but it’s been too hot after work, so I’m going to attempt to take them in the morning.
They actually talked about trading cards quite a bit at convention, so I almost feel ready to tackle them!

I will be posting a birthday card that I made for the man in the next couple of days. I hope you’ll get to see it.
Kristie
I’ll make a note to remember to check!
Yeah, I have a few other things I need to post too, including a birthday card I made for my oldest nephew. And, I should really make one for my dad, whose birthday was yesterday. So much to do!
