Oscar Noms are Tomorrow!

I suspect I completely bored you by my last post. Too long? Not so much interest in movies? Unfortunately I still love movies, and I watched a couple more recently.

On Thursday I watched The Constant Gardener. I don’t remember being too anxious to see this one in the theater, but I’m glad to have seen it now. I’ve never read a John le Carré novel in my life, but if this movie is an inkling of what they’re like, I might have to try one sometime. Rachel Weisz has won a Golden Globe and a SAG award for her role, and the director and film were nominated for Golden Globes.

Has anyone out there even heard of Junebug? It is an odd film, but lovable. Amy Adams was nominated for a SAG award for her supporting role, and she really does stand out. I just did a search of her on imdb.com, and sure enough, now I totally remember her from an episode of Charmed. Heh. Anyway, I recommend checking out the movie sometime. It’s different, and I’m not sure I cared for the art that’s part of the story, but I liked the movie a lot.

I can’t wait for the Oscar nominations in the morning. :giddy:

I just saw the announcement of Oscar nominations, but since I’m not much of a movie person, I really didn’t pay much attention to it. Sorry. :shame:

Will I get to see you Friday night?

Hey, the Oscars aren’t everyone’s thing; it’s totally okay. It’s something I’m a little weird about, to the extent of winning an Oscar pool more than once in the past six or so years. I have a lot of movies to try to see between now and March 5.

I’ll have to get back to you about Friday. It’s still on my calendar though.

Kristie! You updated without even being asked. Yay!

Boo to the Oscars. Ever since Shakespeare in Love won best picture over Saving Private Ryan, I’ve not watched them.

I do what I can. I have a couple other posts in draft form that hopefully I can get out this week too.

Yeah, at the time I hadn’t seen Saving Private Ryan but had seen Shakespeare in Love, so I had no idea. This is one reason why I try to see as many nominees as I can.

i saw junebug at the video store the other night and then about 30 minutes later, ebert or roeper named it as one of his top ten of 2005. i can’t remember the premise now, but after they discussed it, i was kinda thinking i should rent it.

Junebug is definitely worth a look, at least in my opinion. Like I mentioned, I could have done without some of the images in the art portrayed (maybe I just don’t get the symbology; I’m thinking about taking a class about film with the Barnes & Noble University thing), but otherwise, I really liked the story and the actors.
